Queens of the Stone Age, Patti Smith et Lenny Kravitz sur une compilation dédiée à Bob Dylan

Fin janvier, arrivera une compilation de 4CDs dédiée à Bob Dylan et mise sur pied par Amnesty International. Elle sera composée de reprises signées par Queens of the Stone Age, Patti Smith, Lenny Kravitz, Adele, Sting, My Morning Jacket, Charlie Winston, Bryan Ferry, My Chemical Romance, Elvis Costello, Bad Religion, Band of Skulls, Cage the Elephant et bien d’autres…

Amnesty International a été fondée en 1962, la même année que la parution du premier opus de Bob Dylan. L’organisation a donc décidé pour fêter ses 50 ans de réaliser une compilation hommage au chanteur folk baptisée Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International.

72 titres répartis sur 4 CDs

Produits par Jeff Ayeroff et Julie Yannatta, 70 des 72 titres ont été spécialement enregistrés pour l’occasion. La compilation regroupera 80 artistes dont Queens of the Stone Age, Patti Smith, Lenny Kravitz, Adele, Sting, My Morning Jacket, My Chemical Romance, Elvis Costello, Raphael Saadiq, Rise Against, Tom Morello, Pete Townshend (The Who), Charlie Winston, The Airborne Toxic Event, Mark Knopfler, Joan Baez, Bryan Ferry, Bad Religion, Cage the Elephant, Maroon 5, Band of Skulls et Marianne Faithful.

Bob Dylan, en personne, conclura le quatrième CD avec la chanson Chimes of Freedom extraite de son album Another Side of Bob Dylan (1964). Tous les bénéfices tirés de cette compilation iront à Amnesty International. Sortie prévue le 30 janvier 2012.

Célébration mondiale en mai dernier

En mai dernier, Amnesty International avait fêté mondialement son 50ème anniversaire. Le 29 mai 2011, lors de son concert au Stadium à Winnipeg (Canada), U2 avait porté un toast en l’honneur de l’organisation.
