2007 – 2009 : formation et premiers singles

Holy Ghost! s’est formé en 2007 à New York (New York) sous l’impulsion de Nick Millhiser (guitare, chant, percussions) et Alex Frankel (guitare, chant, programmations). Le duo se connaît depuis le cours élémentaire. Il participe au groupe hip hop Automato qui sort en 2004 un premier album éponyme produit par James Murphy et Tim Goldsworthy, alias The DFA.

Après la séparation d’Automato, Nick Millhiser et Alex Frankel s’oriente vers l’electro pop. Ils baptisent leur nouveau projet Holy Ghost! et sortent en novembre 2007 leur premier single Hold On. Parallèlement, le duo réalise des remixes pour MGMT, Moby et Cut Copy. En 2009, Holy Ghost! livre son deuxième single I Will Come Back. La vidéo de ce titre le fait remarquer. Il y propose le remake plan pour plan du clip de New Order Confusion.

2010 – 2011 : premier album Holy Ghost!

En mai 2010, Holy Ghost! livre l’EP Static on the Wire. Il donne alors ses premiers concerts notamment en première partie de LCD Soundsystem. Le 4 avril 2011, le duo sort son premier opus éponyme chez DFA Records.
